The mission of Spare Key of Minnesota is to provide time to Minnesota families with a critically ill or seriously injured child undergoing a long-term hospitalization. Spare Key does this by making a mortgage payment for the families allowing, a parent to take unpaid leave from work to remain in the hospital with their child. Over 325 Minnesota families have received this assistance from Spare Key and over $280,000 has been paid to lenders on behalf of these families. Spare Key works to establish ongoing and committed partnerships within the lending industry to ensure continued support of their mission to provide financial assistance to families in crisis. The organization hopes to create a national replication model within five years.
