August 10 - Asian stock markets tumbled on Friday as worries about spreading US subprime mortgage woes sparked selling.
Japan's Nikkei fell 2.4 percent (16,764), its lowest close in almost 5 months.
Japanese exporters were further hammered by a jump in the low-yielding yen, as investors unwound risky carry trades.
