An identity thief stole the title to her home and mortgaged it to Maple Trust for almost $300,000. The Ontario Court of Appeal decided to overturn their earlier 2005 ruling which made Ontario homeowners responsible for all registered mortgages on their property, even fraudlent ones like the one Maple Trust registered on Susan's home.
